We are already familiar with the art of carving on wood and even on a dollar. But the artistic carving of fashion magazines and advertising fashion posters is already something new. Dutch artist Amie Dicke is known worldwide for her stylish cutouts of fashion icons and celebrity actresses. You have never seen them like this before.

Using a special knife, Amie Dicke conducts a detailed study of the world of fashion, trying to look inside, into the very heart of the fashion industry. Some critics draw parallels between the work of the Dutch artist, where she works wonders with a knife with human images, and cosmetic medical procedures.

Ami Dickie became interested in fashion as a teenager, the walls of her room were all the time covered with covers from glossy magazines, posters of models and famous beauties. She studied at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, where she received a degree in fine arts. After graduation, she won a grant for a further six months of study in New York. Once in the city of the Big Apple, the Dutch creative nature found herself in the very epicenter of fashion and glamor. Advertisements for various fashion brands were everywhere here: at bus stops, on buildings, in the subway. Beautiful faces of supermodels, actresses, their shiny lips, shining eyes, all this attracted attention and beckoned. But as soon as the hand of the young "surgeon" Ami Dicky touched the beautiful female image, she erased all the grace and self-confidence of the model looking from the magazine, leaving only her faded silhouette with an excited look and a sad expression on her face.

The artist from Rotterdam admits that when leafing through the pages of various fashion magazines, she always felt a sense of emptiness. By creating hollow images, Ami tries to look further and find deeper meaning behind the pictures she sees. Her artwork helps her express her own opinions and feelings as an artist. In addition to the famous photo cutouts, Ami also makes other transformations with glossy covers, artistically nailing nails of different lengths, sizes and colors there.
