The US Geological Survey launched a special bee control program, and it is thanks to this that Internet users now have the opportunity to admire these tiny creatures to their hearts content.
The extensive collection of photographs includes shots from a variety of angles: you can view and explore in every detail the stunning natural colors, luminescent wings and the unique structure of these amazing creatures.
Of course, the goal of the program was not at all aesthetic admiration for insects: researchers were trying to develop a way to identify and document all types of wild bees. Such an extensive photographic material serves as an excellent base for scientists: to each image they add notes about the appearance of the bee, about the work of its organs and systems, as well as about its habitat.
The fact that this is not quite ordinary macro photography (say, of an advertising or artistic nature) is indicated by a solid black background (after all, the photographs were originally planned to be placed in a catalog and used exclusively for scientific purposes), and the complete absence of any additional details or retouching. However, these bees were destined to become objects of completely unscientific interest in the circles of Internet users.
