Problems in politics and economics are what modern society lives on in any country in the world. However, few people know that there is an "experimental" city of Auroville, created under the auspices of UNESCO, where people of different nationalities live and do not care about either one or the other at all. At first glance, life in Auroville may seem like a paradise tale, but in reality, not all local residents can pass the test of freedom.
Auroville is located in the south of India. The city was founded in 1968 as a social experiment: people from different countries of the world and with different worldviews and religious beliefs came here to build a society, the highest value of which will be all-acceptance. Of course, the city is mostly populated by Indians, but there are also Americans, Europeans, Russians and representatives of other nationalities. In total, there are about two thousand people who live here permanently.
People who come to Auroville are united by an interest in spiritual practices, self-knowledge. Fortunately, the rhythm of the city's life allows you not to rush anywhere, to devote time to internal development and self-knowledge, and the picturesque nature disposes to meditation and contemplation.
Living in Auroville is not easy. First, it is a closed society. The attitude towards newcomers is special here: those who came "from outside" have the right to live in the city for a year (provided that they initially buy a house here), and then the community decides whether they can stay or should leave Auroville. It is difficult to remain unnoticed in the city: everyone knows everyone. Secondly, here you need to be able to take care of yourself and find a job to your liking. The city is completely self-sufficient, so many of the inhabitants of Auroville run their own households. Thirdly, the inhabitants of Auroville have to give up the usual goods - cars and high technology. The townspeople do not use cars, only taxis come here, which bring "recruits".
Life in Auroville, despite its seeming simplicity, is complex. It is impossible to hide behind the daily hustle and bustle, to be distracted, to plunge headlong into work. Most of the people living here are artists, writers, people of creative professions. For them, solitude is especially important. It is assumed that Auroville can become a model for building a society of a new type, the whole city is designed for 50 thousand inhabitants. Time will tell how successful the experiment will be. However, even now those people who have moved here admit that they are absolutely happy!
The city of Auroville, located in India, is a phenomenon. By the way, in this country there are many mysterious places where few tourists get.
