Contemporary art sometimes takes on the most unexpected forms, hiding in ironic cartoons, eerie sculptures or incomprehensible, absurd paintings. Project Scotch tape series by an American photographer named Wes naman can be attributed to the same unexpected modern art, absurd and funny, similar to caricatures, but "alive", real, made of blood and flesh. And transparent tape. As usual, the idea, and with it the muse, visited the author by chance. Decorating the art studio for the holidays, his assistant fooled around with scotch tape, sticking pieces of it on his face, pressing his lips, nose and cheeks with it. And as soon as the photographer saw how his colleague's face, pasted over with transparent adhesive tapes, had changed beyond recognition, the future project Scotch Tape Series was born.
Like cartoons, humorous cartoons, which are fashionable to draw, depicting politicians, artists and musicians in a funny and sometimes stupid way, the faces of the participants in the photo session have changed. Distorted their features, the shape of body parts, not to mention the unusual facial expressions and the general impression in general. But be that as it may, one cannot help but smile when looking at photographs of Frankenstein people who clearly enjoy what is happening to them.
Wes Naman invited his friends and family to participate in the series of funny pictures. Those who were not afraid to expose themselves in such a stupid way, turning into a caricature, a parody of themselves, can be seen in the Scotch Tape Series. On the photographer's website, the photo session is available in its entirety.
