In our latitudes they say that a penny protects the ruble, in the United States the dollar protects a coin in one centbut an artist named Jacqueline Lou Skaggs in each center he sees first of all a canvas for his painting, and only then - a separate monetary unit. Even if it is very small. And although the coin is also too small as a canvas for a painting, the artist manages to place portraits, landscapes, images of architectural monuments and other unpretentious subjects painted in oil directly from the presidential portrait on its surface. And what is funny in itself: a cent cannot cost more than one cent, since this has been decided from time immemorial by the mint, and all this time the rules have remained unchanged. But having become a canvas for a miniature pastoral painted by Jacqueline Lou Skaggs, each of the dozen bronze cents is no longer just a small change. It turned into a real art object, a work of art called Tondi Observations … And such a coin is much more expensive, and requires much more respect for itself than before this unusual transformation.
Initially, Jacqueline Lou Skaggs set herself the goal of returning coins with paintings painted on their surface to everyday life, than to surprise those who get them in a store, cafe or gas station. But fate - and the mint of the state - decided otherwise, and today "penny" paintings take part in exhibitions of contemporary art, in particular, they are part of the Tondi Observations exposition. And all the same, they surprise, entertain and delight those who came to the exhibition to admire the unexpected and unusual work of contemporary artists.

Mary Lou Zelazny and her surreal reality of collage paintings
For who we are, we should thank not only our parents for heredity and upbringing, but also the society in which we grew up and in which we move.
