Each of us, in spite of kindness, responsiveness and love, certainly has a certain dark side, which is hidden deep in the soul, but from time to time it still breaks out. For the Dutch woman Martine Johanna, her dark side turns into a very diverse in form (graffiti, pencils, acrylic paints) and bold in content creativity
Martine Johanna writes about her work the following: “Judging by the reviews of my works, they are somewhere between modern illustrations, pop surrealism, modernism and primitivism. I do not consider any areas of my work to be predominant. Sometimes I want to work with 3D technologies, sometimes I want to create films from photographs and sculptures”. Martine is another artist who is not satisfied with one thing in art.
Since childhood, drawing for the artist has been a way to escape from reality, to create new worlds and dimensions. Young Martine Johanna loved to dream about other realities. Until 2006, she worked as a fashion designer for 10 years, after which she took up painting again. However, fashion still influences her and her creativity differently. “My work reveals a part of the dark side of my personality,” says Martine Johanna.
The artist says that she is never completely satisfied with her work, which, however, is more than natural for a creative person. “My task is not to promote my name, but to develop creatively. To create something that would be timeless, because it would remain in the hearts of people.”
