Macro shot of drops and splashes of water? Multiply enlarged microorganisms? Hitherto unknown life forms? In fact, everything that we see in the illustrations is the hand-made masterpieces of a Japanese artist and sculptor. Mika Aoki … Using glass and plastic, she creates amazing sculptures in a collection called Singing glass … However, she really took the images and prototypes for her creations from the real, but microscopic world. It is not for nothing that many of Miki Aoki's glass sculptures can be mistaken for fungi and spores, bacteria, viruses and other life forms invisible to the naked human eye. Thanks to the careful detailing and subtlety of the author's work, one can imagine that outside of human attention such strange creatures really live and flourish, but not everyone is given to see them. And contemporary art, namely the sculptural masterpieces of Miki Aoki, bring them to the surface.
In the installations of the Japanese artist, glass microorganisms interact with the real world, participate in the ordinary life of an ordinary person, appearing now in bottles, now in a car, now on tables or chairs. And thanks to this absurd combination, the Singing Glass project becomes even more interesting. The result is truly inspiring, mesmerizing, makes us think how much interesting things are hidden from our eyes, and how much we want to look behind this obstacle, in order to know, to see, to touch.
Singing Glass isn't Miki Aoki's only glass art project. Other examples of unusual art can be found on the website of the Japanese artist.
