Water, fire and copper pipes - everyone who takes part in Tough Mudder! Perhaps this competition can be considered one of the most brutal sporting events in the world. Participants need to overcome a distance with obstacles ranging from 16 to 19 km, which is not inferior in complexity to the training base of the British special forces!

Tough Mudder Competition is the brainchild of former counterterrorism agent Will Dean. While studying at Harvard University, he was skeptical about monotonous marathons and triathlon, so he decided to create competitions, participation in which would be equated with victory over human capabilities.

The main difference between Tough Mudder and traditional sports is that there are no winners or losers: the main goal is to get to the finish line in unlimited time. And also at a distance, do not forget to help those who are desperate and cannot run further. The competitions, which are held in the USA, Canada, Europe, Japan, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, are open to both men and women over 18 years of age. Already half a million people around the planet have tested their capabilities, and a quarter of the participants are representatives of the fairer sex!

Participants do not know in advance what awaits them during the passage of the distance. Participants must complete a number of extreme tasks: jump into a trash can filled with ice water ("Arctic enema"), crawl a part of the distance on their bellies, without catching a live wire stretched just above the shoulder blades, or climb a mud hill. At the end of the race, all participants undergo electrotherapy - an electric shock of 10,000 volts.

Before the race, each of the participants promises to remember that Tough Mudder is a challenge to yourself, not to forget about the team, and also not to whine! Nobody takes what is happening too seriously. Participants don't even wear tracksuits, most are dressed in the stupidest outfits - tuxedos, superhero costumes, and even skirts! As a reward for participating in the finish line, they receive cool beer and live music. And for those who understand that the best team is their own family, the family race, which is held annually in the town of Newry (Maine, USA), is quite suitable!
