When the animal control office received a call about a stray dog, the service staff did not expect to see such a goner. The dog was so skinny and so sick that it seemed that it itself had lost hope of a good life. They even wanted to put the dog to sleep - and most likely it would have happened, but the case intervened in this situation.
The dog was named Skye and was found in one of the townships of Texas. Apparently, this is a half-breed husky about a year old. When Skye was found, she was covered in shingles and lost almost all of her hair because of this. She had an incredible number of ticks, and, in principle, the dog could barely keep up - she was so exhausted by hunger and disease.
Service workers took Skye to the nearest shelter, and there she was automatically put on a list for euthanasia. "This shelter is the deadliest place for animals in the entire country. It is so crowded that the rules of the institution specify that all sick dogs should be immediately put to sleep so as not to claim the medicine, space and food that healthy dogs need."
These are the rules of the establishment, but the establishment still employs ordinary people who find it difficult to act so cruel to animals. So in relation to Sky, they wanted to do at least something to save her. They contacted another shelter in a completely different state - several hundred kilometers away - and asked if they could take Skye for themselves. “We knew that if we didn't make a decision now, the dog would be killed,” the New York shelter replied. “So we immediately said,“Come on, take her.”
Upon arrival, Skye was immediately sent to the vet. The mongrel had to be treated urgently - she was in a very bad condition, but nevertheless, over the past few days, she became more cheerful, given how much attention they began to show her. The dog was given to overexposure (a temporary home for ordinary people) while it was undergoing all the necessary treatment. Then, a few weeks later, the dog was handed over to another family for overexposure.
A lonely mother, who also had her own pets at home, agreed to take the already a little stronger dog. However, as soon as the woman saw Sky with her own eyes, she decided that it would not be "for a while", but forever. "She (mum) has small children and little dogs, and Sky fits perfectly into their company, as if it was intended. In fact, she is just an incredible dog," says a worker at a New York shelter.
Nowadays, you can hardly recognize in this cheerful, shiny white dog the goner who was caught by social services in Texas. “This is what we, in fact, are doing,” says the representative of the shelter. “We took this dog when she was literally dying, and look at her now! This is the most magnificent and amazing dog, and her life is now a real fairy tale.."
A similar story happened this year in India - a guy picked up a dying stray animal, and a few months later it turned out that it was beautiful purebred dog.
