Film company New Line Cinema will try to revive the series "Nightmare on Elm Street" by relaunching the film about the legendary serial killer Freddy Krueger. The script for the remake will be written by David Johnson, who is best known for his work on The Walking Dead and The Conjuring 2. Very few details of the project are known, but apparently, the new film will be a reboot of the 1984 film.

It's worth noting right away that New Line Cinema has already tried to restart the franchise in 2010. Then New Line Cinema played the role of producer and distributor. Platinum Dunes was directly involved in the work on the film. The relaunch was more than unsuccessful, despite the fact that the film grossed $ 115 million from a budget of 30 million. Reviews from film critics were truly "devastating". The fans of the series also reacted with dislike for the new film.

It is not known when exactly the new film will be created, when the shooting will begin and when it is planned to release the picture. At the moment, New Line Cinema is very tight on details. Will play the main villain definitely not Jackie Earl Haley, who played Kruger in the 2010 relaunch. Most likely, the studio will find a younger actor. Hayley is currently 54 years old.

The first film "A Nightmare on Elm Street" was released back in 1984. The picture was so successful that it marked the beginning of an entire franchise. As a result, eight full-length films have appeared in several years. They were supplemented with several games, comics and of course books. The image of Freddy Krueger in almost all films was embodied by the actor Robert Englund. Today, this villain is one of the most recognizable in popular culture and in particular in cinema.
