Even if there is no way to travel to different countries, but there is a desire to find out, and most importantly, to see how it is there, in the far (and not so) abroad, you can always find a way out. Get a piggy bank "on vacation", read blogs and watch video reports of seasoned travelers. Or view photographs taken by professional photographers from National Geographic … Today is a traditional selection of the best shots of the past week, November 19-25.

Oryx, known as the saber-horned antelope or also as the oryx, is considered the epitome of endurance and unpretentiousness. These animals, as a rule, live in deserts and semi-deserts, and therefore are able to do without water for a long time, replenishing their supply from food. However, they are also found in the savannas. Many oryxes live in Namib-Naukluft, a national park in Namibia, where they briskly travel through the dunes and dig edible roots out of the sand. By the way, it is the oryx that is depicted on the coat of arms of Namibia.

A smart pheasant, wandering somewhere in the meadows of Italy, is very successfully camouflaged in the grass, decorated with bright red poppies. And it may seem that this cunning man has put on one of the poppies, using it as a mask - so deeply reddens his head among the green ears and poppy flowers.

Hallstatt, a small old town in Austria, sits on a picturesque riverbank. On each side, it is surrounded by the Dachstein mountain range, powerful, majestic, picturesque. Due to its unique natural beauty, the region is included in the UNESCO heritage list. And this unique beauty becomes especially obvious at night, when darkness descends on the city, lulling and soothing tourists, windows of houses and streetlights on city streets light up a soft, warm light … And only the famous Parish Church rises above this fabulous silence, winding ribbons of night fog …

A one-year-old bear, shyly hiding behind a tree, was spotted by photographers in Brook Halls (Alaska), where he learned to fish under the supervision of the strict mother of the bear. But suddenly the baby was alarmed, and rushed to the trees, from where he timidly looked out, watching a small group of travelers. Probably, he sensed their approach and decided to hide in a safe place, just in case. This image was later unanimously voted the best of the entire series of photographs taken on this trip.

An interesting name - Cappadocia - for many centuries has been a no less interesting region in the central part of Turkey. The Erciyas volcano once erupted here, which significantly changed the landscape of this area. Well, many years of evolutionary processes have also contributed to the formation of Cappadocia as a unique natural phenomenon with bizarre rocks of outlandish colors, numerous windows that have appeared out of nowhere in the rock, strange letters, mysterious labyrinths and mesmerizing unearthly landscapes.

When the winter sports season begins, Western tourists are drawn in rows to the Hindu Kush, one of the highest mountain ranges in Asia at the junction of the Pamir, Karakorum and Himalayas, which crosses the territories of Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Pakistan. After watching the skiers dashingly rushing down the mountain slope on skis, this young Afghan also got up on homemade skis. His wood and metal skis are attached to his legs with chains and ropes. But a dream is a dream.

A family of exotic fish sedately makes its way through the tentacles of the anemones. Just like a respectable family of people who went for a walk with little kids.
