The fate of many Russian writers was not easy, but as many trials as fell Mikhail Zoshchenko, hardly anyone else survived. The writer had a chance to go through three wars and twice fell out of favor with the authorities, he wrote amazing prose, but had to earn his living by repairing shoes. Our article contains the most interesting facts about the life of the Russian classic.
The life of Mikhail Zoshchenko, it seemed, was woven of difficulties and contradictions. As a 13-year-old boy, he began to write, and enjoyed studying literature. Despite this, he managed to study at school very badly, and in the Russian language he even managed to fail the exam for the certificate of maturity.
The hardest trials in Zoshchenko's life were associated with the war: at first he went through the First World War, after - the civil one. Mikhail Zoshchenko received many orders and awards for his courage and bravery. There were serious injuries, there was also gas poisoning, all this affected the writer's health, and until his last days pain tormented him.
In the years before and after the civil war, it was not possible to devote all of himself to literary creativity, it was necessary to earn a living in more "mundane" professions. Zoshchenko changed a dozen jobs, and everywhere easily mastered, he was an amazingly talented person. He did not shy away from work - he ran the post office, then worked as a shoemaker, tried himself in the role of secretary and agent of the criminal investigation department. Perhaps the most original was the experience of breeding chickens and rabbits.
Despite such a variety of spheres of activity, Mikhail Zoshchenko experienced true joy when he visited the literary salon of Korney Chukovsky. His satirical stories were eagerly published in the publication "World Literature".
The Great Patriotic War became a new test for the writer. Not fit for service, he began to work for the benefit of victory in the rear, conducted anti-fascist propaganda, writing slogans for leaflets, recording feuilletons for the radio. In the forced evacuation, out of 12 kg of permitted things, I took 8 kg of notebooks and drafts necessary to work on my programmatic piece - "Before Sunrise". After the publication of the story in 1946, the writer fell into disgrace, he allowed himself too much criticism of the Soviet system. He was able to return to literature only in 1953 after Stalin's death and the debunking of his personality cult. It would seem that it was possible to start a new life, but one sharp speech against the party in front of foreign students was enough for the persecution by the authorities to begin again. Unfortunately, the last years of Mikhal Zoshchenko's life were overshadowed by public condemnation, he lived them in oblivion, practically not returning to literary creation.
Speaking about Mikhail Zoshchenko, one cannot help but remember him the brightest thoughts about man, love, life and Russia.
