Film by Y. Chulyukin "Girls" was released in 1962 and has not lost its popularity since then, although at that time no one believed in the success of this picture. On the set, there was such a successful cast that it is simply impossible to present other actresses in the main roles. Many interesting stories happened not only during the filming of the film, but also after them. The fates of the "girls" developed in different ways - someone was waiting for a successful film career, and someone died in obscurity and loneliness.
The role of Tosya Kislitsyna was claimed by the wife of director Chulyukin, Natalya Kustinskaya. At that time, she was called one of the first beauties of Soviet cinema, and Chulyukin understood that not such a heroine was needed for this role. He started filming without even warning Kustinskaya about it. The director was not mistaken - Nadezhda Rumyantseva was unsurpassed in this role. Paul Newman called her "the pigtailed miracle" when she won the award for Best Actress in Girls in Argentina.
Her further film career was very successful, but at the peak of her popularity, the actress suddenly disappeared from the screens. As it turned out, she made the decision to leave the cinema for the sake of her beloved husband, Willie Hshtoyan. He was a diplomat, worked for the Ministry of Foreign Trade, and foreign travel was part of his responsibilities. Rumyantseva went after her husband without hesitation and never regretted that she devoted herself entirely to her family. In 2008, she died of a brain tumor.
For many years Svetlana Druzhinina put up with the fact that she was called Anfisa, after the name of her heroine from "Girls". At first, it was not easy for her on the set - after all, Nikolai Rybnikov wanted his wife, Alla Larionova, to play this role. The Arts Council also did not approve of her candidacy: they said that the hero would never leave such Anfisa for Tosa. But the artistic director Yuri Raizman found a way out: he suggested leaving Druzhinina, but cutting out all her close-ups. True, even in the middle ground, she was incredibly beautiful and attractive. After "Girls" Druzhinina acted in films for some time, and then decided to change her role on the set and left the acting profession for the sake of directing. As a director, Druzhinina achieved great success - she shot the films "Midshipmen, Go!", "Secrets of Palace Revolutions" and many others.
Luciena Ovchinnikova played the role of Katya in "Girls". The fate of the actress was tragic. She was married three times, but in none of the marriages did she have children - her career has always been in the first place for her. But, unfortunately, she did not develop as successfully as she would like: after Ovchinnikov's "Girls" she only once got the main role in the film "Mom Got Married", and then played only minor roles. And soon the actress was left without work at all. She started drinking and died in complete oblivion and loneliness at the age of 68, having outlived her third husband by 4 months.
Inna Makarova, whose heroine in "Girls" was going to marry "Ksan Ksanych", at that time was one of the most popular actresses in Soviet cinema. Due to her constant employment on the set, their marriage to director Sergei Bondarchuk collapsed. But on the screens she appeared until old age, having played more than 60 film roles. They say that the actress did not come to the premiere of "Girls" because of resentment against the director: in the original version of the picture, as well as in the story of Boris Bedny, based on which the film was filmed, there was such an episode: the threshold of the room allocated to the newlyweds. These scenes were cut from the final version, and they seemed to Makarova the most important for understanding the character of her heroine.
Nina Menshikova, whom Toska called "MamVera" in the film, played about 60 roles in cinema and theater, but her family always came first. Her husband, director Stanislav Rostotsky, and son, actor, director and stuntman Andrei Rostotsky, eclipsed her in popularity. Unfortunately, both passed away early. In 2001, the actress lost her husband, and a year later, her son. Andrei Rostotsky died on the set at the age of 45. The actress herself died in 2007.
The director of the film, Yuri Chulyukin, tragically died under mysterious circumstances. In 1987 he was sent on a creative trip to Mozambique, where the week of Soviet cinema was held. Local residents began to show signs of attention to one of the Soviet actresses too actively. The director stood up for the lady. In the evening, someone called him from a hotel room, and in the morning his body was found in the elevator shaft. It was officially announced that the director had committed suicide.
The role of Kovrigin in "Girls" was the last starring role of Nikolai Rybnikov. For some time he continued to act, but he did not achieve his former success. Hostage of the image of the foreman: why the guy from Zarechnaya street stopped acting in films
