47 years ago, on New Year 1973, the premiere of the movie "Twelve Months" took place, which has since become an invariable attribute of the winter holidays. More than one generation of children has grown up on it, and even adults watch this film with pleasure, because it gives hope that miracles will surely happen if you believe in them. The actresses who played the main roles have since been associated only with their heroines. For one of them, the magical atmosphere of a fairy tale really gave a feeling of a miracle, because on the set she met her love …

The script for the film was based on the play of the same name by Samuil Marshak. In fact, it was another variation of the Cinderella story - one of the most popular fairy tales about a stepdaughter and an evil stepmother. In addition, the action took place on New Year's Eve, and this holiday has always been the most beloved of our compatriots. Therefore, the success with the audience was to some extent predetermined from the outset. The performer of the role of the Queen Liana Zhvania sees the fact that interest in the film has not faded so far in the main idea of the fairy tale: "".

In the lead roles, the director Anatoly Granik decided to shoot unknown debutantes, and this choice turned out to be correct - the young actresses charmed millions of viewers. The role of the capricious queen was played by Liana Zhvania, who at that time was just graduating from the theater institute and had never acted in films. Years later, the actress recalled her first auditions: "".

The work on the role was very serious, the director did not want to create a schematic image, so he discussed every detail with the aspiring actress: the queen is very young, she is an orphan, she is surrounded by deceitful and hypocritical people at court, the only person to whom she is attached is the old one professor, but he tires her with his lectures. All this explains the queen's capricious nature. Liana Zhvania unquestioningly followed all the director's requirements, learned dance steps with the choreographer, weaved heavy copper wires into her pigtails. But the result was worth it - the image she created really turned out to be very colorful, lively and real! The son of the writer Marshak said that Liana created the image of the queen that his father dreamed of. According to Liana, on the set of the film, he fell in love with her, dedicated poetry to her and wrote letters.

According to Liana, this film could be on the shelf - officials saw a large number of unwanted political parallels and allusions in the harmless children's movie tale. But "Twelve Months" nevertheless came out on the screens thanks to the intervention of Samuel Marshak's son Immanuel, who was a consultant during the filming and monitored the entire filming process. He was able to save the fate of the painting.

After her debut role, Liana Zhvania starred very little, mainly in television plays, and for the audience she forever remained the queen from "Twelve Months". The actress said: "".

Natalia Popova, who played the role of stepdaughter in the film, was often called an actress of one role. Together with Liana, they studied on the same course at LGITMiK and became friends, although they were completely different in character and temperament - Liana was lively, active, adventurous, and Natalya was sentimental, calm, dreamy. In the film, they got the heroines, which fully corresponded to the girls in terms of temperament. Both of them were noticed at the graduation performance at the institute and invited to audition, and for both of them these roles became stellar and the brightest in their film careers.

For Natalia Popova, this role also became a film debut. And although incredible popularity fell upon her after the premiere of the film, this did not contribute to her success in her film career - in the 1970s-1980s. she got only roles in television plays and episodes in films. However, shooting in the fairy tale "Twelve Months" became significant for her not only in her professional life, but also in her personal life. A magical atmosphere reigned both on the set and beyond: Natalia Popova and actor Andrei Bosov, who played the role of the month of April, flared up romantic feelings. They married shortly after filming and have been together for over 40 years.

Natalia Popova's film career could not be called very successful, but otherwise her life was very happy. For a long time, the actress lived with her husband and son in the United States, then Andrei Bosov and Natalya Popova returned to Russia, and the son and his family stayed abroad. Since 1999, the actress has taken up teaching activities, became an assistant professor at the Department of Directing and Actor's Skills at the University of Culture and Arts in St. Petersburg. She also writes plays and translates.
