Double Dragon is one of the most famous and popular games in the eighties and nineties. It is a pity that now it is practically forgotten, unlike its "contemporaries", the games Super Mario Bros., Pacman and Space Invaders. But artist Aled Lewis is sure it's too early to forget about this game. So he cut out a scene from Double Dragon on a wooden plank … Old video games are the heroes of quite modern and contemporary art. The indefatigable plumber Mario is especially popular among current authors, who noted on our website in graffiti on the wall on the campus of Columbus College of Art & Design in the US state of Ohio or in the sculpture Game Over, which is a modern version of Michelangelo's sculpture La Pieta ("Lamentation of Christ"). We recently talked about the design of Coca-Cola cans in the Space Invaders style. But today we will talk about another game bestseller of the old days, the game Double Dragon.
In the late 80s and early 90s, the video game Double Dragon was one of the most popular games in the world in general, and certainly the most popular in the Beat Them All genre. True, its subsequent versions did not please the fans very much and the series eventually faded away. But it will forever remain in the hearts of those who twenty years ago spent hours, days, weeks and months playing Double Dragon.
Apparently artist Aled Lewis is one such longtime Double Dragon fan. After all, he created an unusual piece of art based on the plot of this legendary video game. He recreated the location from Double Dragon on a wooden block, carving the characters of the game and its surroundings on it. The result is a wonderful wooden bas-relief dedicated to virtual battles not so long ago.
Moreover, Aled Lewis created this work of art for a reason. His wooden bas-relief, dedicated to Double Dragon, will be one of the exhibits of the Gallery 1988's exhibition, which will open in one of the exhibition halls of the American city of Santa Monica on September 16, 2011, that is, today.

Giant fire-breathing dragon: Dragon Bridge in Vietnam
The fire-breathing dragon occupies a special place in Vietnamese culture: traditionally the inhabitants of this country consider him their "progenitor", and the very outlines of the territory of Vietnam resemble a giant dragon with a bent neck. It is natural that they strive to immortalize the fire-breathing giant in architectural landmarks. For example, the unique Dragon Bridge was recently built in Da Nang
The tree of hope: a Christmas tree with 7 thousand paper cranes
Every December, hundreds of paper cranes flock to San Francisco to decorate the world's most hopeful tree. The project, which started 5 years ago, merged two traditions - western and eastern, because cranes make nests on the Christmas tree. The Dragon: 40,000 buttons golden dragon. Kinetic sculptures by Robin Protz
Life is space and movement, and installation is probably the only genre of contemporary art that can be called "living", based on these two components. Although, kinetic sculptures can also be called "alive", which occupy the border niche between installation and sculpture, hovering in the air both literally and figuratively. American artist Robin Protz is one of those who prefer to develop this particular direction of modern
