After the awards ceremony, Alexander Demidov announced another important campaign, the face of which he promised to become.
Due to a misunderstanding, the Ryazan region was not included in the environmental state federal program to save the Volga. Whereas the Oka is one of its most important tributaries. And the most important pollutant. To save the Oka today we need our own federal program. Alexander Demidov suggested that this issue be brought up for general discussion: to make it public, by the efforts of all interested public associations, academia, government officials, to get involved in the preparation of comprehensive measures to save the Oka. Together with his fellow musicians of the most famous Russian bands, Demidov is ready to hold a festival in support of this initiative in September.
- I will definitely join this work, prepare my proposals, - said Alexander Demidov. - One of the factors of pollution of the Oka has become obsolete or completely absent treatment facilities in cities and towns. Sewerage systems, especially in small towns, are in a deplorable state. We have a lot to work on. And, I hope, the authorities will hear the voice of public figures and support this initiative. If you do not start this work now, the hour is not far off when the water of the Oka is recognized as unfit for drinking. And drinking water in Ryazan can become as valuable a resource as in Crimea.
