In a club called Berns, which is located in Stockholm, on December 9, a solemn ceremony of awarding the Alternative Nobel Prize in Literature took place. This award has been approved by the New Swedish Academy. Marise Conde, a writer from France, was considered worthy of this award.

It is much nicer for writers to receive such high marks for their work in the middle of their careers. The writer was born in Guadeloupe in 1937, when these territories were considered an overseas department of France. During her life, she wrote a large number of essays, plays, short stories and novels in English and French. She also wrote books for children.
Russian news outlets say that it was decided to award Condé the Alternative Nobel Prize for the study of the cultural heritage of Africa and the values of pre-colonial times, the study of the era of colonialism. The French writer will receive an award of one million SEK donated by organizations and individuals. This is approximately 112 thousand dollars.
It is worth remembering that earlier it was decided not to hold the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2018. The reason for this decision was a sex scandal around one of the members of the Swedish Academy. An internal investigation within this academy led to the fact that of all the writers in the Academy, only eleven remained. One is missing to determine the Nobel Prize winner in accordance with the established rules.
In connection with such shocks, writers in the summer of 2018 decided to organize a New Academy so that this year it would be possible to present a worthy figure in the field of literature with the Alternative Nobel Prize. After the presentation of the award, the New Academy ceases to exist.
