The fact that this story was not fictional became known in 2012, when Nadezhda Repina published her book “Everything is for the better. The love story that formed the basis of the film "Winter Cherry". In it, she talked about their romance with screenwriter Vladimir Valutsky. For many years, both hid this fact, because both were not free: Valutsky was married to actress Alla Demidova, Repina was married to director Andrei Razumovsky. Despite this, their relationship lasted 14 years and was as painful as that of the characters in the movie "Winter Cherry".
They met in 1974 in Yalta, where Vladimir Valutsky came to the shooting of the film "Screen Star". Nadezhda Repina was involved in the crowd there. She was 27 years old, 3 years before that she graduated from the acting department of VGIK. While still a student, Repina began acting in films, but played only four films: "By the Lake", "Big Amber", "To Love a Man", "Behind the Clouds - the Sky".
Her first love was Vyacheslav Tikhonov. Before joining VGIK, Nadezhda Repina worked as a courier in the Directorate of the Film Studio named after V. I. M. Gorky, and Tikhonov was friends with the director of this studio. There they met. She was at that time 18 years old, he was 37. By that time, he had already divorced Nonna Mordyukova. They tormented each other with scenes of jealousy, constant scandals, stories about their betrayals, partings. Repina called him, and if he answered: “You got to the wrong place,” she understood that his wife was nearby. Sometimes she answered her, and then Nadezhda hung up. Valutsky and Repin did not spare each other, made them suffer, tried to hurt the sickest. Both he and she really had affairs with other people, about which they specifically told each other in order to cause jealousy. Once a story happened, very similar to the one that the heroine of Elena Safonova experienced on the screens. Nadezhda Repina met a foreigner, Italian Giorgio, he came from Rome and proposed to her. She did not have any feelings for him - she just hoped that this would force Valutsky to divorce his wife. More than once in the evening he promised Repina that he would leave the family, and the next morning he changed his mind - he could not make up his mind.

According to Repina, the main role in this film was intended for her, and she was very outraged when she learned that Natalia Andreichenko had been approved. She successfully passed the audition, because her hit in the image was one hundred percent. It is such Valutsky who described the main character in the script - temperamental, eccentric, scandalous, hysterical, unbalanced. But then Andreichenko on the set of the film "Peter the Great" began an affair with Maximilian Schell, and on the appointed day she did not appear on the set. She was removed from the role and urgently began to look for a replacement.
As a result, the role of Olya went to Elena Safonova. In her performance, the heroine looked completely different - lyrical, quivering, loving, patient, timid, intelligent.
