Looking at photographs or reproductions of paintings painted by our compatriot Elsa Kolesnikova, a resident of Nizhnevartovsk, one might involuntarily think: this is really very nice. But still … Autumn, winter, beautiful birches, peace and bliss - so what? What is so unusual about ordinary landscape painting? But having visited a personal or any other exhibition with Elsa's participation, having looked at her work "live", the attitude towards such "ordinary landscapes" will drastically change.
The author of "cute pictures" never studied painting on purpose. She is one of those amazingly talented self-taught artists who one day pick up a brush and watercolor, or paper and charcoal pencil, and begin to create stunning canvases to the envy of all other graduates of art schools and colleges. However, in the case of Elsa Kolesnikova, it was not paper that fell into her hands, but the most ordinary glass.
It is difficult to paint on glass, the artist admits. Firstly, you need to draw from the back side, which means that it is difficult for an artist to keep track of what exactly he draws and how it turns out. You have to navigate from memory, following the imposition of strokes. And painting on glass does not forgive mistakes, because they cannot be corrected. One small inaccuracy, a tiny "puncture" - and the paint was lost right on the same glass with the damaged painting. Then take a new one - and start drawing from the very beginning.
The finished work is fixed with enamel and allowed to dry thoroughly. But the most interesting feature of paintings on glass appears after the paint has dried. The fact is that such pictures change their shade depending on the lighting, time of day and even the weather outside the window. And when the sun is outside, it seems that each "glass" is literally saturated with the sun's rays, and by itself emits light and warmth …
