Video: Brooks Salzwedel's hazy art

Brooks Salzwedel uses graphite pencils, film and "horrible toxic resin" to create incredibly delicate and deep images. Covered in fog and as if frozen in time, they fascinate the viewer with their gloomy beauty and leave no one indifferent.
“Using transparencies, including parchment, acetate, film, film and resin, I create a multi-layered effect in my work. I ask myself which objects should be in the foreground and which ones would be better to recede into the background. I want all my work to have an amazing sense of depth. For example, in a good work, everything will be covered with fog, but at the same time it will be possible to see the details of the image in the foreground and background. In most cases, I don't know what to expect from my work and I am surprised myself when I take the resin out of the mold. The layers change, and some images become dull and boring, while others, on the contrary, acquire freshness - thanks to this I feel that my work is far from stereotyped. It's an experiment with lots of randomness,”Brooks Salzwedel told NY Arts Magazine.
The author implements his amazing ideas not only in paintings, but also in the line of accessories - in his unique technique Brooks Salzwedel creates belt buckles. On them, among the foliage and fog, you can see images of deer, owls, crows and cityscapes. Brooks also put into these works his unchanging depth, which is rarely found in accessories. The author's creativity in this area was appreciated: the collection "Shane" by Brooks Salzwedel earned the title of "Best Belt Buckles in Los Angeles" by Los Angeles Magazine, and Brooks Salzweder himself was named one of the five best accessory designers in Los Angeles according to Los Angeles Times Magazine WEST.
Now the author is working on new works in which he tries to use gel-like substances to achieve a transparent effect. “I want to move away from resin and see what other materials I can use and how I can add more graphic and hand-drawn elements to my work,” explains Brooks. The author was born in California and will celebrate his 30th birthday this year.

How a nun became a star in pop art and protest art: Sister Mary Corita Kent
Pop art is all about the glorification of popular culture, bright colors and flashy slogans, experiments with materials and a slap in the face of public taste. And also - at least in the perception of the majority - stormy parties, scandalous films, crazy biographies of artists and photographers … Least of all the above is associated with monastic robes. However, the nun was indeed the outstanding artist of pop art. Her name was Corita Kent, and in her work, love of God and political protest merge

Painting by Kelsey Brooks, or Meditations of the Microbiologist
American Kelsey Brookes is a microbiologist by training. By his own admission, he learned to draw on his own and mostly "out of curiosity."
