California artist Brooks Shane Salzwedel - a very bright personality in the constellation of contemporary artists. Talented and mysterious, like his incredible works, the artist works in the mixed media technique and creates fantastic foggy landscapes that you want to peer into endlessly. What is hidden there in the distance, behind the fog? Brooks Shane Salzwedel is a rather secretive and laconic character. Even on his personal website, instead of a biography, there is only a list of exhibitions, awards and achievements of the artist, but the selection of works is extensive and very impressive. However, foreign sites dedicated to contemporary art claim that Salzwedel received an art education at one of the institutes in California, and while still a student, he established himself as a promising author with a unique creative style, a kind of outlook on life and a desire to convey it to society, again, in its own unique manner. Therefore, it is not surprising that yesterday's Brooks student Shane Salzwedel immediately became a welcome guest in modern art galleries, and his amazing works just quickly found new owners from among connoisseurs of non-standard art.
A distinctive feature of all the creative works of Brooks Shane Salzwedel is … a whole bunch of these features at once. And first of all, it is the depth and volume of foggy landscapes, thanks to which it seems as if you are looking into a window that leads into the looking glass. The artist achieves this effect by using materials such as parchment, acetate, film and resin, from which he creates multi-layer paintings. With a graphite pencil, the author carefully draws the main details that will come to the fore, and everything that should be hidden in the fog is applied to the parchment with pale, barely distinguishable strokes. Then, the layers of the future landscape painted on film or parchment are placed in a mold and filled with resin, but sometimes even the artist himself does not know what will turn out in the end.
So, sometimes the finished image turns out to be truly mysterious and fantastic, like a plot from a fairy tale, but in some cases the resin "eats" the drawing, and then the picture becomes pale and expressionless. It happens, Brooks Shane Salzwedel throws up his hands, but this is a natural risk that you need to be prepared for if you strive to make each work exclusive, not like ready-made works.
