At first glance, wooden sculptures by Ron van der Ende are no different: transport, technology, houses … But they still have something interesting: despite the apparent 3D effect, all the sculptor's works are two-dimensional.
Ron van der Ende was born in a Dutch village near Rotterdam and has been fond of drawing since childhood. With the intention of becoming an artist, Ron began attending art school, but one day he discovered that the techniques he possessed could be much more interestingly applied to sculpture. With these thoughts, the author gave up painting for the sake of learning the art of sculpture and now claims that he never regretted it: having enough knowledge in each of these areas of art, now he successfully combines them in his works.
Ron van der Ende embodies in his sculptures ordinary objects that he encounters in everyday life - everything that may seem interesting to him. To create his sculptures, the master uses wood waste and recycled materials. The material for the next piece can be any piece of wood found by the author on the street. Ron splits the wood, leaving only the top layer, which is about 3 millimeters thick and covered with old paint. In his own sculptures, the author does not use paint: his works resemble collages of long-painted pieces of wood rather than painted objects.
Ron van der Este was born in the Netherlands in 1965. He graduated from the Rotterdam Academy of Arts in 1988. More information about the author and his works on the site.
