Miracles are always man-made, and, as a rule, it is our care that is the key to success. It would seem that one person can hardly change the appearance of the city, turn it into a real open-air museum. It turns out that everything is possible, and one in the field is a warrior. More precisely, a sculptor, and not in the field - but in the Crimean city Simferopol. Igor Dzheknavarov - a master who managed to create dozens of wooden sculptures, which have become a decoration of the streets of the city.
For a long time, Igor Dzheknavarov did not advertise himself, the residents of Simferopol wondered who the author of more and more new sculptures, which began to appear with enviable regularity in different parts of the city, were perplexed. Of course, the media did not stand aside and tracked down the craftsman: as it turned out, the guy does not have a special education, he learned to be a chef in a catering college, and I am sure that cooking is the height of artistic skill. “If you know how to fry potatoes, you can do anything,” the self-taught sculptor jokes. Ten years ago, he first thought about working with wood, since then he has devoted all his free time to this occupation.
Igor emphasizes that the trees themselves inspire him to create sculptures: the unique bend of the trunk and the lines of the branches suggest which figure will appear this time. The Simferopol master boldly compares the process of his creation with the way Michelangelo worked with marble. Just as a great sculptor, when looking at a stone, could determine what would come of it (a statue of Pieta or David, for example), if you cut off all unnecessary, so a talented Ukrainian instantly understands who this or that tree trunk will turn into. Igor Dzheknavarov admits that he himself did not count how many sculptures he had already installed. As a rule, each work takes him at least a day, but he can work on large-scale sculptures for up to two weeks. Sculptures by Igor Dzheknavarov are installed not only in Simferopol, but throughout the Crimea, some can be found even in Donetsk, St. Petersburg and Donetsk.
