Born in a small town in the southern United States, Baldridge spent most of his childhood bored and rereading his favorite book "101 Tales". The author once admitted that apparently this old book, found in the attic in the chest of his grandmother, laid the foundation for his love of stories in the style of fantasy and fairy tales - “In my works, I use the same archetypes that I found many, many years ago in fairy tales.”The world created by Baldridge is full of fantastic images of scientists in funny hats, like those worn by stargazers, little lost girls standing in the middle of the forest, beautiful princesses waiting for their prince, and feathers who are all writing and writing the history of life, controlled by the invisible hand of a woman in white.
Art critics talking about works Baldridge, notice that in addition to the mentioned fairy-tale symbols, they contain many elements of steampunk - a direction in art that finds more and more fans every year, although it is generally believed that steampunk takes its origins from the Victorian era. The corsets and crinolines, the watch on the chain and the lace in which the heroes of Baldridge's work are dressed, without any doubt, belong to the Victorian era. Fancy mechanisms and small details, metal and copper, antique furniture and wooden interior elements that can be seen in most of the photographer's works are also steampunk elements. Another intangible feature of this relatively new art form is an almost subtle sense of sadness and fading beauty.
Life story Baldridge no less amazing than the stories of his characters. He was born into a family of believers, so when childhood ended and it was time to go to university, the choice was obvious - the faculty of theology. But somehow Baldridge managed to get two diplomas: the second education was associated with photography, which became the main business of his life. How and when he did it - history is silent.
