There are always a lot of people around us who, for various reasons, frighten us off with something. Andrzej Dragan, a physics teacher at the University of Warsaw, manages to make such people attractive in his works. For ordinary people, as well as for Playstation, Xbox and director David Lynch.
“Some people believe that a good portrait reveals the soul of the person being photographed. I am very sad from this, but the fact remains: in my works such people will not find anything for themselves,”says Andrzej Dragan in a kind of epigraph to his website. This epigraph, in addition to Dragan's words, includes two more quotes from a man whose aesthetics are imbued with all of his works - from David Lynch. One of them, apparently, is taken from the movie “Lost Highway”: “I like to memorize things in my own way. And the way I memorized them does not depend on whether everything was so in reality”. And the second says that "they are all beautiful." " They are all beautiful “- these are the key words to understanding not only this amazing photographer and physicist, but, possibly, all that exists.
Andrzej's photographs are, of course, unusual, but his persona also deserves attention - after all, he is a physicist who received awards for developments in his field, and he became interested in photography only in 2003. One involuntarily recalls such an amazing person as Gilbert Garcin, who was carried away by photography already as a pensioner and still created something unique - the amazing world of a little man. It's nice when the hypothesis that a person, in principle, can do whatever he wants, and it's never too late to start, is supported by examples.
Andrzej Dragan was born in 1978 in Poland. He studied first in Warsaw, then, on a monetary subsidy, in Amsterdam, Oxford and Lisbon. In physics, he is a real ace, he received various awards for his work in this field. “I have never tasted coffee” - such information about him suddenly appears at this moment about him on his website, and, apparently, it says something. Apparently, physicists, like artists, usually drink packs of coffee. He also achieved significant success in the musical field, at various international composer competitions. As mentioned above, he began to study photography in 20003, and since then has achieved unprecedented success - from gold medals in Polish competitions to the nomination for the Lion of Cannes. In addition, he has taken photographs for the likes of Energizer, Playstation, Xbox, Converse, and others lesser known.
Andrzej's website is beautifully designed in dark colors and contains his best works.
