"Into the Mirror" is a sophisticated and feminine series of works by an Italian photographer Luca Meneghel … The concept is simple and attractive: the pictures show a mirror image of a nude model, on which playful dresses and beautiful jewelry are drawn with a marker.
Recently, experiments with mirrors have increasingly attracted artists. Among the most interesting are the "Illusions" project by Barbara Scerbo and the game of hide and seek with mirrors by Seokmin Ko. While these masters' mirrors are designed to "hide" models, Luca Meneghel sets itself a different task. The Italian photographer strives to make the mirror a kind of door to a mysterious world, in which the Nasty Bugriy model appears in unusual images.
The girl is exceptionally pretty and, despite a certain amount of piquancy, the photos do not look vulgar or defiant. Rather, Luca Meneghel, playing, tries on her sketches of different outfits, in each of which the young beauty looks great. Light and almost airy, it looks like the personification of a dream.
Rough, deliberately sloppy lines of painted dresses, an old, worn mirror - all this makes the pictures even more expressive and vivid. There is even a feeling that the photographer has become an accidental witness of girlish fun - flaunting at the mirror.
In the photo cycle from Luca Meneghel, the boundaries between reality and the author's fantasy are blurred, it is difficult to grasp what we actually see and what we have dreamed of, which makes it even more interesting to look at simple photographs.
