The banks of the Loire River at high tide are no different from other coasts of France. But at low tide, a 130-meter skeleton of a huge water snake appears, striking tourists with its grandeur and fantasticness. The roots of the sea essence go back to ancient Chinese mythology, which claimed that a few thousand years ago, huge snakes were common. Today (thank God) one cannot find a 130-meter monster in the depths of the sea. And if there is such a desire, then you can always come to the French coast.
By the way, despite the abundance of myths surrounding the huge skeleton, the origin of the wonder snake is understandable. The skeleton of the water snake is the work of the artist Huang Yong Ping, whose task was to create a local landmark that would attract crowds of tourists to the coast.
The project was completed in 2012, and since then, a huge kite appears periodically on the wet bank of the Loire at low tide, frightening the unenlightened guests of France.
If we talk about the process of creating a unique sculpture, then the artist faced a number of difficulties. For example, Huang Yong Ping could not accurately recreate the skeleton of an animal that simply does not exist. As a result, he copied the vertebral region from an ordinary snake, and the skull of an ordinary dog served as a model for creating the mouth of a sea monster.
Of course, in the end, the unique snake turned out to be very far from its prototypes, but this is for the best. So tourists are more willing to believe in Chinese legends and the reliability of the skeleton, even if the artist does not hide his authorship.
