How was it in the song from the radio play "Alice in Wonderland"? If aloud, from the cradle, they call him a pig, baiushki-baiu, even the most humble child will turn into a pig in the future. And a Moscow photo artist named Oleg Dou any child can be turned into a pig, a monkey, a fawn, a mouse or a bunny, one has only to arm himself with his photograph. Human cubs, or human cubs? About this - the personal exhibition of the photographer, which is called " Cubs", recently opened in Barcelona, at the Galeria Senda.
Oleg Duryagin, what is the name of Oleg Dow in the world, was born in Moscow 28 years ago, and at the moment is a graduate student of the Moscow State Institute of Steel and Alloys. There is no institute of culture, no academy of fine arts - but Oleg's photographs are also different from those photographs usually taken by photographers. Characters from his pictures seem … lifeless, artificial, unreal. Like dolls from the counters of expensive exclusive toy stores. Dolls with human faces that look like a frozen mask. Both scary and attractively beautiful.
Moreover, this "terribly beautiful" feeling is most strongly manifested when you look at photographs dedicated to children. The same Cubs photo project, where little people were turned into little animals, not only dressing them up in appropriate costumes, but also putting their face in order. Oleg Dou says that he got this idea when he remembered his children's costumes of bunnies and bears, in which he had to change clothes for the holidays and children's matinees, and then smile and look at the camera, waiting for a bird to fly out of there. It doesn't matter that the child is crying and refuses to put on a suit - it is so customary, and that's it.
Oleg Dou says that he is attracted by human faces and the emotions that are reflected on them. He is interested in working with this richest live material. These and other works can be seen on his personal website.
