I got acquainted with the works of Anton at an exhibition in the Manezh, in the spring of this year, by chance, wandering along numerous expositions, I came to the stand of the Union of Professional Artists of Russia. There were many wonderful works, truly Russian, classical and modern, but I was struck by the "black eyes" … Black eyes of an oriental girl looking at me through a large and passionate tropical rain … The painting was called “Rain in Singapore”.

Later I learned that Asian, colorful, luscious motives are extremely close to the creative beginning of this young artist. The parks of Kuala Lumpur, the palaces of Bagan, the Malay Islands are reflected in his paintings. Some of my friends-lovers of modern painting, having familiarized themselves with Anton's work, remarked: “How I miss these paints, this color, this chilly March….” Another painting was presented at the exhibition - “Morning in Amsterdam”. Bright, juicy morning, blue boats and a spreading palette - reflections of colorful Dutch houses.

The artist is a passionate admirer of truthfulness and sincerity in painting. Let it be somewhere excessive, somewhere too simple, somewhere too expressive … But, sincerely! With love for life, for everything that surrounds him.

Having gotten to know better, I asked Anton which of the painters he could count among his teachers. "Picasso, Van Gogh, Munch, Matisse, from ours - Anatoly Timofeevich Zverev …." As a longtime lover of painting, everything became clear to me at once. I understood what exactly the artist is guided by in his works, and I really liked it.

Recently Anton Ageev took part in the exhibition of the Roxy Art Club on Red October - Moscow - New York. And again the artist surprised me with his mystical, truly “Munk” perception of life.
