The tradition of dressing up for dinner has hardly survived in modern society. But earlier they dressed up for dinner: they made beautiful hairstyles, chose the best costumes, put on jewelry … And there was something in this tradition - something aristocratic. In memory of these times, designer Marianne van ooij from Holland and created a set of ceramic dishes called " Dressed for Dinner"Sculpted by hand, these plates and bowls, cups and saucers are more reminiscent of sculptures, and are perceived as an art project, and not at all as an offer to eat and drink from these dishes. In principle, this is how it is, and the author does not deny this.: “dressed up” dishes are primarily intended to be admired, while putting porridge into it and whether to pour soup is a separate question.
"I like to make unusual things out of ordinary things, to bring to life ideas that seem to lie on the surface, but for some reason no one uses them," says Marianne van Ooij about herself and her work. - "And the Dressed for Dinner project is one of such ideas. It would seem simple, but how interesting!"
This master has a lot of other interesting projects, ideas, and all of them are on the Marianne van Ooij website.
