The works of the American illustrator Norman Rockwell (February 3, 1894 - November 8, 1978) enjoyed immense popularity among the US population in the 20th century and were a kind of reflection of American culture. Rockwell has long illustrated the Evening Post and painted numerous portraits of America's Boy Scouts.
From this it can be inferred that Norman Rockwell was a fairly prolific artist. He is said to have painted over 4,000 original paintings in his lifetime. However, not everyone knows that ready-made photographs were taken as the basis for many of his works, which the artist simply redrawn.
Here's what Ron Schick, author of Norman Rockwell: Behind the Camera, has to say about this:
More works by the artist can be found at the Normal Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. It contains over 570 paintings and drawings, as well as an archive of 100,000 photographs, letters and materials. It is here that you can find many of the photographs that served as inspiration for Rockwell.
By the way, many artists drew their creativity from looking at Normal Rockwell's paintings. This is evidenced by the series of drawings by Jonathan Bartlett in the style of the 50s, and the work of other artists of that time.
