Each has its own attitude to politics. Someone is actively engaged in it, someone demonstratively does not go to elections, someone, on the contrary, supports all the decisions of the authorities, and someone protests against it. But activists of the Ukrainian movement FEMEN became more famous than many Ukrainian and Russian politicians of the first rank only due to their active civic position and their … breasts.
Regular rallies now cannot attract attention to oneself and to certain social and political problems. Society has lost faith in politics and near-political life so much that it is necessary to look for new forms of expression of its civic position. One of such unusual forms was found by the women's movement FEMEN from Ukraine.
They draw attention to various problems that seem important to them with their breasts. After all, people, even despite the presence of an endless amount of porn on the Internet, still have not forgotten how to pay attention to nudity. This is what FEMEN activists use.
Starting with a series of actions "Ukraine is not a brothel!", bureaucratic arbitrariness, failures of domestic sports and other resonant things.
For example, during the Presidential Elections of Ukraine, FEMEN participants broke into the polling station where Viktor Yanukovych was supposed to vote with posters “Stop raping the country” addressed to all the country's politicians, not just its current President. In front of one of the Kiev universities, they staged a performance called "Institutes of Prostitution", dedicated to the sexual harassment of teachers against female students. During the shutdown of hot water in Kiev, they bathed in a fountain on the Independence Square. And by the recent arrival of Putin, FEMEN, fearing the excessive influence of the Russian authorities on the Ukrainian ones, held the action "Ukraine is not Alina", hinting … It is clear what it was hinting at.
The organization's erotic performances are minimalistic; they can be organized with a minimum of money and even without them at all. This allows FEMEN to be independent from political and financial structures.
And FEMEN's tactics are paying off. They say more about the political actions of this unusual organization than about the actions of the politicians themselves. Moreover, not only in the Ukrainian and Russian media, but also in the Western ones.
By the way, the FEMEN logo, the letter F, stylized as female breasts, was developed by the famous designer Artemy Lebedev as a sign of sympathy for the organization.
