Beautiful free people who live carefree in a huge, beautiful city. Young and full of energy, they can do whatever their heart desires: sit carefree in a cafe, walk with friends, do what they love. But do they want it?.. Can they break out of the shell alienation? The answer is in the work of Alena Belyakova.
Alena Belyakova was born in Vladivostok, but now lives in St. Petersburg. She studies at the Herzen Russian State Pedagogical University at the Faculty of Philology. The girl is only nineteen years old, but she takes amazing pictures. A series of works "Neszdushnye", something like a photo-reflections on the modern forms of Onegin spleen, is one of Alena's most famous projects.
In addition to this series of shots impregnated alienationAlena Belyakova has a lot of other interesting works: for example, a dozen people in rabbit masks walking peacefully in the park, or a gentle girl who walks through the forest, hugging deer antlers. All of them perfectly correspond to Alena's motto: "We are trying to turn the world into a fairy tale, because otherwise life is not interesting." A series of photographs "Out-of-place" is an attempt to show that obstacles that seem insurmountable to us are in fact not stronger than a soap bubble.
But the photographer from Lyon Julie de Waroquie believes that every moment of solitude is an experiment and creativity, without them life would be deprived of an impressive part of its beauty. The theme of loneliness gets a completely different embodiment in the works of Martin Stranka. For him, loneliness is when "a person seems to be suspended between two worlds, the real and the world of dreams." Unlike their pictures of these photographers, Alena's people are not separated from the world, they live in an ordinary city, like any ordinary person, but at the same time they also exist in their small spacesuit world, full alienation, which is very difficult to cross …
Alena speaks very simply and even ironically about her hobby and about herself: she started taking pictures at the age of 14 so that one man would like it, and “it all started with conceptual shots of fire escapes with meaningful inscriptions in Photoshop“Stairway to Heaven …”in seventy point across the photo … But he was very kind and supportive. That is, he kept sarcasm in check and did not injure the child's psyche.
