“I don't like hard and heavy materials like bronze, stone or clay. I like things that are fragile and sophisticated,”says the sculptor. After spending years looking for a material that was “new and completely unconventional,” the author eventually settled on steel wire. Through trial and error, Shi Jindian learned how to knit three-dimensional sculptures out of wire using tools of his own invention. At the same time, the author does not create a work from scratch, but first braids the required object, and then destroys and removes the base, leaving only an openwork wire frame.

According to the author himself, the result of his work is something from the realm of fantasy, "virtual reality that can be walked around and touched." Shi Jindian's sculptures range from musical instruments to vehicles. His most famous work is the wire model of the Chinese CJ750 motorcycle. The author patiently worked on the creation of this sculpture for three years! But Shi Jindian is not at all sorry for the time spent, because in return he gets much more: "When people touch my sculptures, they also touch my state of mind: calmness and peace."
