2020 has brought a lot of losses. The newspapers were literally full of obituaries. Not a single article is enough to list every great scientist or famous sportsman who died in the USSR. But one cannot but recall those who were carried away by this terrible year together, it seems, with a whole era. At least a few names.

Natalia Bonk

According to Bonk, as the two-volume English textbook for universities was called, many generations of students, both Soviet and post-Soviet, studied. It, of course, cannot be put next to modern super language courses. But it must be borne in mind that the textbook was compiled at a time when there were no modern technologies, knowledge and information were not at all as accessible, and even language practice - even more so. The textbook is quite consistent with the needs of its time.

The same "Bonk" is Natalya Aleksandrovna Bonk, a linguist and teacher. She was born in Moscow in the twenty-fourth year, and this means that she found terrible times - and the arrests of the thirty-seventh, and the approach of the Germans, because of which Moscow had to starve, and the post-war "struggle against cosmopolitanism", which was actually directed at the country's Jews …

Natalya Aleksandrovna learned to read at the age of four from Chukovsky's book "Crocodile". Within a few years, Chukovsky was no longer published for a long time. In the preschool circle and at school, she did not learn English at all, but German, and spoke it briskly. She entered English literally by accident. I went to stock up on cards, thought about it - and looked into the institute. As an excellent student, she only had to go through an interview. Why English? - "Because I speak German fluently." So quickly, right on the spot, she interviewed and passed.

Although Natalya Aleksandrovna developed the methodology independently, she published all her textbooks in co-authorship. Including the same two-volume edition. She taught English and her daughter.

Chadwick Boseman

Bosemann has starred in many roles, but after working on the Marvel comics, he became for everyone the Black Panther, the king of a secret African state and a superhero. In this role, literally the whole world fell in love with him. Mostly, of course, children and adolescents.

Like many Hollywood film actors, Chadwick did a lot of charity work and posted photos of himself with babies from hospitals on social networks. In these photos, he was getting thinner and thinner, and jokes about his addiction to drugs became popular on the Internet.

In August 2020, the actor died. As it turned out, he had been ill with cancer for a long time. He fought for life with the help of all the medicine available to him, but was unable to overcome a terrible disease. And in three films, where he appears as Black Panther, and in photographs with sick children, the actor was sick. The actor did not have his own children. He only got married in 2019.

In one of the films with the participation of his character, Black Panther, half of the people in the blink of an eye disappear all over the earth. 2020 leaves the impression of a similar development of events. And Boseman was among the missing.

Valentin Gaft

The attitude towards the actor due to his political views was different, but Gaft's death in December 2020 made almost everyone remember his star roles. And there were a lot of them. And one is often different from the other. Magician Kashnur from "Kalifa-stork". Butler Brasset from Hello, I'm Your Aunt! Sidorin from Garage. Hussar Pokrovsky. French teacher, he's the king of the underground. The Sataneev sorcerer. Inspector Leicester in the movie where Holmes happens to be a woman. The leader of homeless people, nicknamed "President". The high priest Kaifa …

He played characters that were funny, scary, energetic, disappointed. Its heyday came in the years when many others were starring. He experienced a terrible tragedy - his daughter killed herself. And many novels with women. He left behind dozens of tales and poems popular on social networks. In general, one cannot say about Gaft that he lived and died unnoticed. The actor's life was cut short by a stroke.

Kim Ki Duk

One of the most famous Asian filmmakers died at the age of sixty in Latvia. The cause of death was the "fashionable" coronavirus in 2020. The director came to the country on the shores of the Baltic Sea with the aim of buying himself a house and obtaining a residence permit. It is difficult to say what exactly his choice was connected with, but, of course, any European country would not mind acquiring such a famous resident and, perhaps, even a citizen.

Kim Ki-Duk is known for his films The Island, Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter … Spring Again, Empty House, Arirang and Pieta. Pieta was also the last film for which he received a Golden Lion award in 2012. Perhaps the decline in attention to his work from the Western film festivals is due to the scandal in the following years - several actresses accused him of abuse and violence.

Vladislav Krapivin

One of the most famous children's writers of the nineties, Vladislav Krapivin brightened up the gloomy childhood of a whole generation with a fairy tale. But the children of the USSR also read his books with pleasure. Only if in the nineties Krapivin wrote mainly fantasy, Soviet children know him better from stories about pioneers. And in these stories, ordinary guys went sailing, flew on airplanes, made films, organized an archery tournament and fought with swords - in general, they got a full set of adventures, being neither musketeers nor Indians. Full delight!

Krapivin himself created a children's club, where real boys and, less often, girls received the same set of adventures - the "Caravel" club. He was more than once ridiculed for his pretentious uniform with aiguillettes and an elitist approach (for example, children with problems were not taken there), but this club inspired many adolescents and teachers involved in extracurricular activities to imitate. So there was something to be inspired with!

The writer died from the coronavirus, or possibly from neglect of a coronavirus patient in the hospital. The death was reported on social networks by his daughter-in-law. Among the most famous books of Krapivin are dystopias connected by the same world "Outpost at the Anchor Field" and "Geese, Geese, Ha-Ha-Ha" and stories about the usual children's adventures "The Musketeer and the Fairy". Krapivin was one of the few Soviet writers who raised the topic of bullying among children or by adults.

Ennio Morricone

For the younger generations, his music is, first of all, the soundtrack to the film "Django Unchained". For older people, these are Pasolini's Decameron, The Professional with Belmondo, the Soviet-British-Italian Red Tent and many other films. In terms of working in films, the composer, I must say, had no preferences. The theme and genre of the picture, whatever they may be, he considered only as a creative task - and masterfully solved it. It is this approach that probably makes the list of films with his music incredibly long, longer than anyone else in Europe (though this record is easily beaten by Indian film composers).

Morricone was born in 1928 in Rome, so he found the fascist regime and its overthrow. He began writing music for films only at the age of thirty-three, and at first it was exclusively westerns. And still few people know, but Morricone was a strong chess player and even world champions fought with him with pleasure. The consequences of an unsuccessful fall became the cause of his death.

Inna Makarova

The film "Girls" was so popular that every character from there and every actor who played it is like a native. For example, if someone tries to remember the films of Inna Makarova, one can immediately say: Nadia Erokhina from Girls. And everything falls into place.

And the actress initially glorified the role of Lyubka Shevtsova in "Young Guard". A cheerful and talented girl who was destined to die scary. The Molodogvardeytsy were then recognized on the streets. “Bad characters” could even be called and pushed, so imbued with the film. Inna Makarova was sorry when they met.

Inna was born in Siberia. All her childhood and adolescence, she lived with her mother and father literally in the House of Writers in Novosibirsk. In another way, the Writers' Union could not help its member Vladimir Makarov with housing. Inna graduated from school during the war, and was not afraid to go to enter an artist in Moscow. I just returned there from the evacuation of VGIK. There Makarova began her studies. There, a little later, she met her first husband - in the future a famous director, and then a guy who just returned from the war, Sergei Bondarchuk.

After her studies, they tried to invite her to the theater, but the director Gerasimov clearly defined: Makarov is needed in the cinema. So all her life, until 2015, Inna Vladimirovna was filming. Her daughter, Natalya Bondarchuk, was always filmed.

Sean Connery

One of the most famous James Bond and one of the most famous Scottish actors. Since the most scandalous interviews about him or with his participation were not translated into Russian or, if they were covered, then not widely, for Russian women he was a man-dream, a gentleman embodied.

It is hard to imagine, but Sir Connery was not aristocratic at all. Mother is a washerwoman, father is a worker. In his early youth, Connery had World War II, and from a young age he had to look for ways to get coal or food in the house. It quickly became not up to study.

As an adult, Sean tried to escape poverty by joining the navy. I managed to get two naval tattoos, but could not stand the service itself. The stomach weakened greatly over the previous years of a hungry life, and from the busy schedule on the ship seriously gave up. I had to write off to the shore.

The next attempt to start a new life was bodybuilding. Connery built muscle and competed. And in parallel - he worked in the theater. True, if he dreamed of an acting career then, it was timid. I auditioned for cameo roles in films and even got them a couple of times. Luck turned to face him when one director began to look for the role of a Scottish soldier for a young guy who would please with muscles and a Scottish accent. Connery came up with all the parameters. After that, the film career went uphill. In the end, for his talent, the actor was awarded the title of knight from the Queen of England.

In recent years, the actor suffered from dementia. During the pandemic, he virtually isolated himself in his home in the Bahamas. As a result, he died - but from pneumonia and heart failure. However, there is a conspiracy theory that they simply did not begin to test him for the virus, and with coronavirus, in fact, they die from complications, such as pneumonia and heart problems …

Mikhail Zhvanetsky

It is difficult to imagine, but a man who, it seems, was known all his life as a stage artist and writer (author of monologues), studied to be a sailor in his youth and was seriously involved in gymnastics. After graduating from the institute, Mikhail began to work in the port … In general, it seemed that this path would never turn towards the stage.

In fact, already as a student, he participated in amateur performances, along with another pop legend - Roman Kartsev. Kartsev was the first to go to conquer the stage. Once he read Zhvanetsky's monologue from the stage - and Raikin was interested. So at thirty, Zhvanetsky abruptly changed his fate - he left for Leningrad and began to work in the theater, head of the literary department.

The writer was in demand after the fall of the Soviet Union, right up to the last days of his life. Only in October 2020, it was reported that he was leaving concert activity for health reasons. On November 6, Zhvanetsky died. Age and age-related illnesses were cited as the cause. The writer was eighty-six years old.

2020 especially took a lot of people due to the pandemic. But he is not the first in history: What pandemics faced the ancients and how they explained their occurrence.
