There comes a time when children's computer literacy develops earlier than the ability to write and read. The work of a South African designer is dedicated to these global changes. Emma Cookwhich created modern alphabet Design Alphabet, taking into account the current realities of life.
Many generations learned to read and write thanks to textbooks-alphabets, in which images with objects, the name of which begins with it, were selected for each letter. For example, on the page with the letter A one could see a watermelon or a car, on the page with the letter E - a spruce, and the letter K was illustrated by a cat. But children from the near future will be accustomed to completely different objects that are no longer related to real life, but to virtual.
An alternative alphabet from Emma Cook offers to teach children the alphabet through realities they understand. After all, modern urban kids could never have seen a cow that will illustrate the letter K, or a tomato, the image of which can often be seen on the alphabet page with the letter P. But today's preschoolers are well versed in computers and other digital technology.
Here is the alphabet with digital realities and created by Emma Cook. She shows the letter A through a computer from Apple, E through e-mail, J through Java, and M through Moleskine.
Of course, some of the realities from the Design Alphabet series are not clear even to every adult. But the title of these works suggests that such an alphabet is intended primarily for designers. And, therefore, it is they who can teach their children literacy through the works of Emma Cook, thereby raising loyal followers of their work from early childhood.
