To date, the Star Wars franchise has already boasted eleven films, including the main parts, as well as two spin-offs. The world first learned about this story in 1977, and today it is the most popular and viewed in any country in the world. Therefore, today we will talk about ten characters from this universe who appeared on the screen more often and longer than others.
1. Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader
The creator of Star Wars, George Lucas, has always argued that these films are the story of Anakin, his life and his work. It originally started out innocent and friendly, telling us about a little boy whose life was not easy and who lived in the desert on the planet Tatooine. However, being driven to despair by the thought of losing his beloved woman, he switched to the dark side, abandoning democracy and tempted by the proposal of the Senator, and later - Emperor Palpatine.
Just like Anakin himself, Darth Vader received a huge amount of screen time - 164 minutes and thirty seconds. And, perhaps, the longest of them is his confession to Luke that he is in fact his father, who, as the guy himself believed, has long been dead.
2. Han Solo
This character is cult today, even though he has nothing to do with the Jedi Order, he does not have a lightsaber like Luke, or outstanding superpowers and the Force. His only difference is his crazy character, funny actions, friendship with Chewbacca and, of course, love for Leia Organa. This is what made the character of Harrison Ford so insanely popular.
Throughout history, Khan is very skeptical of the Jedi Order and its restoration, but this does not prevent him from helping the rebels and directly Luke in "A New Hope" and "The Empire Strikes Back." And, of course, he has appeared in new films in the franchise, and therefore his total screen time is about 138 minutes and thirty seconds.
3. Luke Skywalker
Luke's character first appears in a full-fledged sense in A New Hope, where he becomes the last known Jedi. His mentor becomes the legendary Obi-Wan Kenobi, who soon dies, protecting the boy and sending him to study with Master Yoda. Soon, this character becomes the main one among all who are fighting directly with the Empire.
His story revolves around a direct confrontation with Emperor Palpatine. In addition, Luke manages to bring his father back to the bright side when he helps Darth Vader abandon his master by standing up to protect his son. He also appears in new films, being a mentor for a girl named Rei, giving her very valuable advice on the destruction of the Empire. Therefore, its screen time is about 133 minutes.
4. Rey
Despite the fact that the character Daisy Ridley appeared in only three films, he managed to become popular with the public and get quite a lot of screen time - as much as 129 minutes. It is also much more than any character from the new Star Wars trilogy that has been introduced in recent years.
She sets off on a journey to the planet Jakku, where her parents previously lived, and later joins the Resistance, helping them in the fight against the Empire. Rey also actively fights with Palpatine, which, to the surprise of the audience, is her grandfather. She is also closely associated with Kylo Ren in Skywalker. Sunrise.
5. Obi-Wan Kenobi
Many fans, having learned about the release of the new trilogy of films, hoped that the character of Ewan McGregor would definitely appear in it. This is because the history of the new films revolves around the Skywalker family, directly around Rey and Luke, the last of which was important to Obi-Wan.
Therefore, viewers were very upset when this character appeared for only a few minutes in the form of voice acting, when Rey turned to the Jedi for help in her fight against Palpatine.
Despite this, however, Obi-Wan received 113 minutes and fifteen seconds of screen time. It is also worth noting that this character was played by several actors at once, including Alex Guinness and Seth Green.
6. Chewbacca
In the sequel to Star Wars, this character is not shown too often. If in "The Force Awakens" he flickers very often, then in the "The Last Jedi" part the only memorable scene with him is the moment when he prepares the porg. Fortunately for the fans, the writers heard their pleas, and already in Skywalker. Sunrise”Chewie got more attention.
In total, he received about 79 minutes and forty-five seconds of screen time throughout the films in the saga.
7. Leia Organa
In 1977, when Leia's character first appeared, strong female personalities were only briefly heard and not seen on screen at all. Therefore, she was able to change this with the help of her bright, distinctive character, played by the late Carrie Fisher. After the release of old films with her participation, Leia inspired many young and not so girls, and also paved the way for new female characters in the franchise.
Together with Han and Luke, she played a key role in the rebels' victory over the Empire, and also became the head of the Order of the Resistance. Unfortunately, Leia had to sacrifice herself so that Ben, another character in the saga, could resist the First Order.
Overall, Leia was on the screen for 77 minutes and thirty seconds.
8. Finn
John Boyega, the actor who played the character, expressed his displeasure with how he turned out in the new Star Wars trilogy. However, despite this, having appeared in only three films, this character was able to get 74 minutes of screen time.
Originally introduced as a First Order stormtrooper, however, after Kylo Ren wanted to kill civilians, something about him changes and he goes to the light side. After that, he is a key character during the battle on the planet Exegol, after which his character disappears. And judging by Boyega's comments, he is unlikely to appear again.
9. Padmé Amidala
Like Leia, Padmé is another example of a really good, strong character in the Star Wars saga. In The Phantom Menace, viewers learn that she is not just a girl, but is actually the queen of Naboo. However, her status does not prevent her from actively participating in history. After all, instead of allowing her people to fight in her place, she is always on the front lines.
She helps her people fight for Naboo during the Trade Federation attack, and also actively fights during the Battle of Geonisis. Unfortunately for fans, she dies in Revenge of the Sith after confronting her husband, Anakin, giving birth to Luke and Leia.
In total, Padmé received 72 minutes of screen time.
10. C-3PO
This droid, along with R2-D2, has appeared in absolutely every movie in the Star Wars franchise, with the exception of Han Solo: The Tales, which was released in 2018. However, not his brother, but the humanoid golden droid, received 71 minutes and forty-five seconds of screen time from all ten films in which he took part.
Despite the impressive timing, this character evokes a wide variety of emotions in the audience. So, some believe that he brings the necessary share of humor to this epic, while others - that he is simply annoying. However, this does not prevent him from remaining one of the most recognizable characters in the entire saga.
