A man in pursuit of industrialization and globalization has practically lost touch with nature, no longer feeling himself a part of it. But he is trying to fight this false image of ourselves through his art project. Flower generation indonesian artist Eko Nugroho … The era of hippies has died down for many decades, but some views and ideas of this subculture still exist. For example, the concept of "Flower power", implemented in their own way by different artists from all over the world. The Chinese Fong Qi Wei created the Exploded Flowers flower bombs within its framework, and the Indonesian Eko Nugroho created the Flower Generation series.
Eco Nugroho, through his creativity, wants to remind people that most representatives of modern generations are the mental heirs of the hippies who gave birth to the sexual revolution and the revolution of the worldview. And, if the participants of the movement that existed in the 60s and 70s themselves were called "children of flowers", then today's people can be considered "children of children of flowers." The Indonesian artist calls them Flower Generation.
In the Flower Generation project, Eko Nugroho tries to show that man is an integral part of nature. True, in the artist's mind, each of us is not an animal at all, but a flower.
Nugroho created several works, in which he dressed in costumes of flowers, becoming for some time a living plant that can move and even talk.
Eko Nugroho's Flower Generation art project is presented at sip! indonesian art today, dedicated to contemporary art in Indonesia, which takes place at the ARNDT gallery in Berlin from April 27 to June 1, 2013.
