The Citron 2014 theme is inspired by Jules Verne's science fiction novel 20 Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. First published in 1870, it is the story of the brave French naturalist Professor Pierre Aronnax, who went on an expedition to track down a sea monster, but instead got aboard the Nautilus, Captain Nemo's submarine. The underwater world, which the travelers got to know, was embodied by modern "fruit" sculptors.
