Burning Man Annual Festival can rightfully be called the most "incendiary" on the planet, since so many colors, emotions and fire are difficult to find at any other event. Traditionally, this holiday is held in the Black Rock Desert (Nevada, USA), where on the last Monday of August the most motley audience gathers, ready to have fun, relax and, of course, shock in the coming week. This year the festival was held 26 times, attracting 50,000 visitors from all over the world.
On our website Kulturologiya.ru we have already written about the 13 best art installations that were presented in different years at Burning Man, as well as the celebrations timed to the 25th anniversary of the "fire" creative festival.
This year, many installations were traditionally presented at the festival; unusual cars drove around the streets of the tent city, overtaking pedestrians painted and dressed in unusual outfits. The temple of Juno has become a real "cultural" center of Black Rock, which is no coincidence. The ancient Roman goddess, patronizing marriage and protecting mothers, has become a symbol of the festival, which this year is dedicated to the problem of fertility. Let us remind that in different years its subject has changed: from the eternal struggle between good and evil to problems of ecology and urbanization. All the days of the festival in the temple of Juno there was liveliness: here they talked, danced, sang … On the walls of the temple, the festival participants hung a lot of photographs, messages and all kinds of memorabilia.
The main principles of the festival are radical self-expression, as well as awareness of life here and now. These principles are fully consistent with the tradition of burning a huge human sculpture on the last day of the celebrations. In addition to burning the effigy (the culmination of the festival), the participants also burned down the temple of Juno. Many watched with tears in their eyes as the raging flames devoured the walls of the makeshift shrine.
