The quarter-century anniversary this year marks one of the most shocking creative festivals, full of expression, emotion and fire, which is called Burning man … Traditionally, the festival begins on the last Monday in August and ends exactly one week later, when all of America celebrates Labor Day. For eight days, the participants of the festival dance, relax and have fun, and on the penultimate day they solemnly burn a huge statue of a man. The traditional venue for the festival is the Black Rock Desert in Nevada. Spectators come there, they are also participants of the festival, and in a short time the area begins to literally swarm with wonderful people dressed in outlandish clothes, strange cars with incredible, alien tuning … And in general, amazing things begin to happen …
It is curious that for the first 9 years the festival was held without reference to a specific topic, and since 1995 Burning man has become a thematic event. The first topic was "Good and Evil", last year it was "Megapolis", and this year - "Rites". The approved and tested concept of what is happening is the creation of a certain model of a self-sufficient society, where everyone demonstrates creative self-expression. Yes, everyone - ordinary spectators are not expected at the festival, everyone who arrives takes part in the festival, and each participant must also take care of where to live, what to sleep in and what to eat in advance. This is how Burning Man has been preparing a self-sufficient society for a quarter of a century.
Someone can compare Burning Man with the KaZantip festival - DJs, dance floors, a lot of young people in strange clothes and strange hairstyles. Only in Black Rock does society come to a more mature, and not only to consume the "product" in the form of inspiration and beauty, but also to show their creativity, be it installation, photography, painting, performance, dance or acrobatic numbers - in general, all that the wonderful, what this or that "Burner" is capable of, finds its connoisseurs and admirers.
