Gregory Colbert was born in 1960 in Canada, Toronto. His career began in 1983 in Paris, where he filmed documentaries about the social problems of modern society. Then he became interested in art photography, and already in 1992 his first exhibition opened in Switzerland, and then he simply disappeared.
As a result of many years of hermitage, a unique project "Ashes and snow" - "Snow and Ash" was born. It is not only photography; moreover, photography is only part of a grand enterprise. Because the organic components are an hour-long movie (filmed on 35-mm film, not on video!), Art installations and … a novel in letters.
For 13 years, he made 32 expeditions to the most remote corners of our planet, from Africa to the North Pole. I listened to the voices of animals. And I found a common language with him. The project reveals to us the poetic sensitivity of animals to the human world. Animals, being represented in this project as full members of the human community, blur the very line - between the animal and our world.
An interesting feature of the project is that the exhibition does not have a permanent exhibition space. The photographer travels around the world, and his work goes with him. New animals and new cities appear in the history of the project. Started in Venice, the project has moved to New York, then to Santa Monica in California, then to Tokyo and later to Mexico City, and continues to move forward.
In the photos with whales, Gregory Colbert himself swims:
One of the most exciting moments in the film is the shooting of the swimming elephant.

Eerie sculptures of hybrid animals. Metamorphosed Animals Project by Enrique Gomez De Molina

Where they come from and where they go is unknown, but in modern art strange animals can be seen in the works of Jessica Jocelyn, Steve Bishop or today's hero of the publication, sc
