A very unusual "living corner" was built in their London studio by artists Julie Wilkinson and Joyanne Horscroft. Together they are The makerie studiothat creates amazing and incredibly complex sculptures from rare types of paper, mostly life-size birds. Girls are looking for inspiration in the depths of their imaginations, impressed by worlds forgotten and lost in time, living creatures of rare beauty, fantastic paintings by artists and just pretty things that surround us.
Giving free rein to their imagination, the creative duo literally brings paper to life, turning it into feathers, beaks, wings, claws and other components of certain birds. Each new sculpture not only copies the original to the very last detail - it looks as if the bird flaps its wings at any moment and is about to take off.
The girls collaborate with fashion magazines and private collectors of contemporary art. Check out these and other works by the artists at The Makerie Studio.
