Today, real life is so closely connected with virtual life, and the tentacles of Internet technologies have spread so wide and penetrated so deep that it seems as if everything in the world consists of pixels. This opinion is shared by a Texas sculptor. Shawn Smith, who either jokingly or in all seriousness says: "We believe that we see nature, although in reality these are just pixel images." This view of things left its mark on his work: we have already written about the original pixel sculptures of this author. Continuing on Shawn Smith's pixelated nature. Working on amazing sculptures of small wooden pixel cubes, each of which is painted in its own individual color, the sculptor imagines himself as an alchemist, and his work, accordingly, alchemy. What's the magic here, you ask? The fact is that the author turns a two-dimensional image found on the Internet into three-dimensional, thereby making tangible and real what was once digital, virtual. And once again proves that virtual life is so closely connected with real life that it would seem that there is nowhere else to go.

From the outside, the process of creating pixel sculptures from multi-colored pieces of wood can look like a child's play with cubes, collecting a mosaic or a construction set. This has its own truth: a little man learns life in games and entertainment, learns to interact with the world around him, to react to certain actions, words and situations. Sean Smith, in turn, explores the fine line between the digital world and reality in the same form. I must say, he does it very well.
