Artist Elizabeth McGrath has always loved to find strange beauty in the grotesque of our lives, and then portray it in her work. Inspired by the relationship between the natural world and human culture of consumption, she embodies this dialogue in sculpture and creates completely new creatures, which she draws into the light "from the dark city back streets and from her own imagination."
Elizabeth McGreth works primarily in the sculpture and animation genres. Her work always evokes memories of the darkest side of life, which earned Elizabeth the nickname Bloodbath. Her sculptures are actually strange: a pig cut in half, a deer with power lines between the horns, a two-headed sheep … They evoke a mixed feeling of awareness of the abnormality of what is happening and at the same time a desire to study these works to the smallest detail, examine them to the smallest detail.
As noted on Elizabeth's website, the influence of Catholicism, Asian, street, Gothic cultures, theme parks and much more can be seen in her work. She mixes all this together and creates her own environment in which she comes up with dramas and writes scripts about her own relationship with the outside world.
Elizabeth McGreth was born in Hollywood, California. As part of her creative career, she is also involved in singing: at first it was the punk band Tongue, and now Elizabeth is the lead singer of the Miss Derringer group.
