Shary Boyle is a very talented Canadian sculptor who raises the themes of sexuality, cruelty, history, femininity in her works. Her work is always interesting to look at, but it is incredibly difficult to understand which feeling they evoke more: disgust or delight?

The duality of feelings that you experience when meeting with sculptures by Sheri Boyle is easy to explain. On the one hand, her work is very masterful, it’s hard to believe that all these flowers and lace are made of porcelain and painted by hand. On the other hand, each work contains some kind of strangeness or flaw: a beautiful lady holds her own severed head in her hands, an ugly leg is visible from under a magnificent dress, for some reason another beauty has six arms and eight eyes … Is it beautiful? Yes. Talented? Undoubtedly. But on a par with this, it is no less strange and repulsive.

Sheri Boyle lives and works in Toronto, although her career includes travel and long stops in Europe. Boyle is not only a sculptor, but also an artist, performance writer and director, although sculpture remains her main occupation. Critical, charming and at times humorous, her work often raises questions of human vulnerability and causes anxiety in the viewer.

Sheri Boyle graduated from Ontario College Of Art and Design in 1994. Her solo exhibitions were held in Switzerland, Canada, Great Britain, Germany. You can see other works of art created by the author at website.
