“Should I turn my lens to the outside world that surrounds us, or inward? Should I photograph existing reality or create my own world, believable but non-existent? With this question regarding the true nature of photography, Misha Gordin introduces us to his work. The photographer's paintings are characterized by extreme simplicity and minimalism, with elaborate compositions, mystical meanings and sharp contrasts.

For Misha Gordin, conceptual photography is a way of artistic expression that is on the same level as painting, sculpture, poetry or music. The whole point is in the "concept." He explains it this way: "A bad concept, even when executed perfectly, still leads to a bad, poor photo." The idea and its embodiment through the language of photography thus becomes the essence of the process of conceptual photography.

For Misha Gordin, the photography process is like “writing poetry,” and his truly lavish photo collection of paintings exposes the photographer in the light of a painting poet who uses old, traditional visual art techniques to convey exquisite dark alternative worlds and cryptic allegories. Through conceptual photography, Gordin raises such important issues in art and life as birth, death and the nature of existence.
