Paula Sanz Caballero does not use pencils, paints or brushes to create her illustrations. She makes them from pieces of fabric using a thread and a needle, and she makes them so skillfully that even real artists can envy her works.
Paula Caballero is a Spanish artist whose tasteful work combines the spontaneity and sophistication of illustration and design with a high-quality result based on meticulous image planning and handcrafting. With her unique style of fabric swatch and embroidery, Paula has made a name for herself in the illustration world and has acquired a long list of clients, including fashion magazines, publishing companies, shopping malls and other international firms.
After completing her BA in Arts from the University of Valencia (Spain), Paula began her creative career as an artist, exhibiting her work in various local and national exhibitions. In the late 90s, she began experimenting with fabrics and embroidery, with which Caballero tried to create images.
Always true to her metaphorical and detail-oriented style, Paula portrays high society in a sophisticated and chic setting, yet her illustrations are full of irony, black humor and disturbing details that hint that there are very different meanings hidden behind the glossy surface.
Paula's works are used in advertising campaigns around the world by brands such as Bloomingdale's, Ann Taylor Loft, Harper Collins, Coredo Nirobashi, Loger la borde. Her illustrations regularly appear in Vogue, Elle, Marie Clair, WWD.
However, Paula's work as an illustrator does not at all mean the end of her career as an artist: on the contrary, she believes that both these aspects of her work complement each other, and often exhibits her paintings in art galleries in Europe and the United States.
