The Italian master Livio De Marchi loves wood so much that everything around him is made entirely of wood: the house in which he lives, furniture, kitchen utensils, clothes and even cars. He even floats his sporty wooden Ferrari F50 instead of a gondola on Venice's river canals.
Livio De Marchi was born in Venice, where, as a child, he worked in the field of decorative sculpture, while he studied art and painting at the “Accademia di Belle Arti” in Venice. The sculptor began to work with marble, then created sculptures from bronze, but later settled on such a material as wood. Livio De Marchi claims that wood has always been his favorite material because it gives life to his sculptures and products. To create his exquisite products, the master uses mainly cherry, walnut, linden and pine. In his skilful hands, the material is transformed into the finest woodwork, with the smallest details perfectly carved.
Livio De Marchi uses simple and familiar woodcarving tools. He uses about 100 different chisels, chisels, chisels, and an old wooden hammer made in 1964. They are always on his workbench and each of them participates in the process of giving birth to a new amazing wooden sculpture.
After opening his own studio, Livio De Marchi gave free rein to his imagination. In his work, he is not limited to the usual products. In addition to chairs, tables, armchairs, he carves stunningly beautiful wooden clothes, shoes, handbags, umbrellas and much more.
His sculptures have been shown in exhibitions around the world, including Milan, Florence, London, Paris, Zurich, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Tokyo. Articles have been written about them in such well-known magazines as Interior Design, Madame Figaro, Vogue, Hauser, Decoration and many others. Moreover, the master's decorative works have been shown in many television programs in several foreign countries.
