Residents of the city of Ann Arbor in the US state of Michigan do not live boringly; for more than 10 years now, from time to time, funny pictures drawn in chalk have appeared on the streets. Their author is an artist David Zinn … Most often he paints on sidewalks, less often on fences or on the walls of houses. Despite the fact that the "life" of his creations is short-lived, they perfectly cheer up passers-by.
David Zinn began painting the streets of his hometown back in 2001, since then he has created dozens of drawings. Chalk, coal and what he managed to find under his feet - this is the entire arsenal of the artist. Most often, in the drawings, we can see the green man Sluggo, which looks like an alien, as well as a flying pig. True, there are other characters - a dragon, a mouse, a mole. Each work is an improvisation: either Sluggo rakes up fallen leaves, or the mouse floats on a small boat on the sea of asphalt.
David Zinn is a true master of street art, his drawings look very realistic, it seems that cartoon characters come to life and become three-dimensional. Most often, Sluggo and his pig friend can be seen on the streets of Ann Arbor or other cities in Michigan, but sometimes they "travel" in the Manhattan subway and at the construction waste dump in the Sonoran Desert.
Despite the fact that David Zinn mastered the basics of artistic skills on his own (in his youth he received a philological education), this did not prevent him from becoming a real professional. For 27 years now, he has been decorating various objects, sometimes small shops, and sometimes large municipal institutions. Funny street art remains a favorite hobby for the artist.

Real street art should be not only aesthetic, but also utilitarian. After all, the streets of modern cities have turned into real landfills. And where utilities can't cope with these dumps, artists can try to cope. Chalk Drawings Are Tricky: Pavement Art Festival
The American town of Sarasota, Florida, recently hosted many people who can squat and crawl on all fours for hours, creating chalk drawings on the pavement. From November 1 to November 7, a street art festival was held in the southern town, where even in late autumn it is not cold to wear a T-shirt and shorts. Hundreds of artists with a tail came to the competition to see 200 thousand tourists, which is 4 times more than the population of the city
Art gallery on the streets of Brazil. Street art by Claudio Ethos
A long time ago, the masters of graffiti and street art were no longer called vandals and hooligans. Ever since they realized that high-quality art can easily go beyond the studio and be placed on the nearest concrete or brick fence, stone wall, facade of a panel house, metal partition of a bus stop. This world needs more colors and vivid impressions. And in Brazil, a responsible artist named Claudio Ethos, known for his surrealism

What is good for a Russian is good for a German : 15 typically "our" things, incomprehensible to the western man in the street
Almost a quarter of a century has already passed since the collapse of the Soviet Union, and many still recall with nostalgia the days when any scratch was smeared with brilliant green, and birch was carried from the store in a string bag instead of orange juice. This review presents typically "our" phenomena, recalling which, we can proudly say: "In the West they will not understand."
